Belle Epoque Two Piece Ecru Satin Brocade Ball Gown

The fabric, probably French, silk satin brocade and with silver thread scroll motifs scattered across the textile. Bodice, with metal stays, cut close to body, and extensively beaded and with crystal drops to neck, and long beaded fringe to hem. Voluminous skirt accomodates a bustle and has a train. Lined in pale brown silk taffeta with a wire band stitched in to hold bustle in place.
Approximate dimensions: 31 1/2 Bust, 23 Waist, 15 L. from shoulder seam to waist. 25 Skirt waist, 43 L. from waist to front hem.
Condition: The silk shattered under stained armholes, and partly shattering to front, back. Skirt with long areas of shattering. Some losses to crystal drops and beads. Despite these problems, the garment is quite striking.
