Circa 1880.
Made for Blanche Hollister Patigian (1876 - 1950). Comprising: v - neck blue silk jacket with voided velvet striped cuffs, hems and pocket covers,and matching sleeveless underdress, with velvet trim and blue silk pleated hem. Lined with brown waxed cotton. Together with a white gauze lace trimmed afternoon dress. Both for a child of roughly three - five years old. The jacket with Chinese Qing dynasty enamel buttons.
For decades, stored in an old Raphael Weil, The White House, San Francisco shipping box, dated 1946.

Provenance: Made for Blanche Hollister, who married sculptor Haig Patigian. Ms. Hollister grew up the privileged daughter of Nannie H. Alcock and Dwight Hollister, a rancher near Sacramento.
Condition: Staining to front of the blue silk underdress and jacket, consistent with wear from a little child. The white lace dress appears never to have been worn.
