Meissen Porcelain Kugelspielerin Ball Player Figure

Modelled after the bronze by Walter Schott (German, 1861- 1938). The female figure modelled standing, leaning forward, dressed in a pink toga, and supported by a tree stump toward the back of the stepped cylindrical base. The gilt ball in her right hand attached to the palm with a metal rod. Painted in pastel polychrome enamels with gilt highlights.
Underglaze blue crossed swords mark and dot to back of the tree stump, incised to the underside of the base, Q 780, and impressed 153. Iron red 28.
Approximate dimensions: 14 3/8 H..
Condition: Overall appearance is very attractive, and the bulk of the figure in very good condition. Pointer finger, right hand, broken off several other of the fingers broken off, professionally reglued, and overpainted although now with visible cracks to the points of regluing. Minor wear and minimal surface scratches.
