Circa 1900.
Roughly based on Jean Honore Fragonards painting, The Swing (LEscarpolette), of a Woman on a swing, putti aloft in the air, supported by a tree trunk, a courtier to her right and a luthier to her left, with his foot on a basket holding two bottles, all painted in polychrome enamels and with gilt highlights, on a ovular mounded base decorated with low relief scrolling foliate designs.The original painting by Fragonard circa 1767. The swing ropes are made of painted, entwined wire.
Overglaze gilt wheel mark with spokes. Overglaze gilt mark, interlocking opposed Ses.
Approximate dimensions: 14 1/2 H. x 9 1/4 W. x 6 1/2 D..
Condition: Very good condition. On the arched section of the tree trunk, one small overhanging branch broken off, and glued back professionally over painted and now visible. A few lights dots of kiln frit some losses to leaves on tree minor wear to gilding.
