The exterior decorated with extensive gilt scrolls and floral details, over a band of lappets under a lightly domed cover with inverted onion knop. The interior of body and of cover with blue enamel decoration.

Provenance: Allegedly gifted to consignors grandparents by Julia Dent Grant Cantacuzene and her husband, the Russian Prince Mikhail Cantacuzene, in St. Petersburg. The urn was presented by a family friend after the couples marriage in 1899. During the Revolution, the Cantacuzenes fled Russia for Washington, DC and ended up in Sarasota, FL. The couple divorced in 1934.
Condition: Very good condition, with some abrasion to surface of blue enamel at the point of joining of the knop to the cover, cover underside.
