Panel 4 from the Herter house at 2970 Broadway, San Francisco, painted en trompe loeil style with a white peacock in full fan, above a covered urn, against a stylized foliate ground replicating the effect of tiles. The border with faux boiserie, scrolls, brackets and ovulos. This motif repeated on Panel 2 and 8.

Provenance: Property Deaccessioned from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Albert Herter was the son of Christian Herter of Herter Brothers furniture and interior design fame. Albert was a painter, muralist, tapestry designer and owned Herter Looms, founded in 1909 shortly after Herter Brothers became an extinct company.
Albert Herter became a member of the National Academy of Design Society of American Artists American Watercolor Society and Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, France.
